Alpha and Christianity Explored

Alpha and Christianity Explored are both ten week courses that are run regularly at Shirley Baptist Church. They are designed to be accessible and informal, providing opportunities for people to find out more about the Christian faith. The courses are held in the homes of church members and there is no obligation to read aloud, answer questions or come to church. It is strictly a 'no pressure' environment!

Alpha: Over 2 million people in the UK have attended an Alpha course. The ten thought-provoking weekly sessions include topics such as 'Why did Jesus die?' and 'Why and how should I read the Bible?' Each week involves a short presentation, followed by discussions.

Christianity Explored: This course is focused around the Gospel of Mark. Each week starts with refreshments before watching a short DVD presentation and discussing the theme of the week. Themes include 'What is grace?', 'What is a Christian?' and 'Why did Jesus come?'
