Shirley Baptist Church has existed as a congregation since 1797 and the first meeting place was in a former pub on the corner of Stratford Road and Olton Road. In 1845 the congregation moved to its own building on what was then Sandy Lane, close to the Powergen site. We currently worship in the distinctive building on the Stratford Road at the Birmingham end of Shirley, which was erected in 1910, and has recently been completely refurbished inside. It is a wonderful blend of an older building with a modern interior, and we encourage you to
come and have a look.
The church is affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain and is a member of the Evangelical Alliance. We work in partnership with other local churches in a scheme called Shirley Churches Together.
