Paul has been serving as Senior Minister of Shirley Baptist Church since November 2007. Previously he was a Baptist Minister in the London area. This is a very significant time in the life of the church, and Paul is encouraging the congregation to think creatively about how to be a central part of the local community. He says: "The Gospel is the power of God to bring salvation, peace and hope in a broken world. I am utterly convinced that Jesus is able to transform the lives of those who come to Him, and I pray that through the ministry of Shirley Baptist Church many more people will come to a living faith in Jesus Christ." Paul is married to Frances, and they have 3 children and 1 grandchild. For relaxation Paul enjoys reading and cycling. Paul and Frances also spend time visiting their family who are now scattered across the UK. |

Jonathan and his family have been in the church for many years, and have taken a very full part in many aspects of church life. He says: “This church is one small part of God’s family and I am pleased to be one small part of it. It really is an extended family: there are people who have been following the Christian journey for 70 years and others who are just starting or re-starting – I am inspired by teenagers with radical enthusiasm and by older people who lived radical Christian lives fifty years ago and are still doing the same today.” |

Trevor is the person who has been a member of Shirley Baptist Church longer than anyone else, and has therefore seen lots of changes through the years. He says: “I first became involved at the age of 8 when my best friend persuaded me to join the Wolf Cubs at the Church. Having grown up through the various church organisations, becoming a member in 1944, I really feel at home and have many happy memories of the buildings and of personalities and am very grateful of the support I have received over the years.” |
